From Pharmacy Assistant to Developing National Pharmacy Services
Charlotte shares how she went from the pharmacy counter to managing pharmacy services for 300 Boots stores.
Charlotte Horne – Assistant Commercial Development Manager, Boots
Not one to be put off by hard work and persistence, Charlotte Horne tells us how she has spent the last seven years at Boots going from working on the pharmacy counter to now developing new services for 300 pharmacies nationwide.
With a fantastic in-store career under her belt working through many of the amazing development opportunities Boots has to offer, Charlotte decided she wanted to work within the Nottingham Support Office, and set her sights on the Graduate Programme. With a background in pharmacy services since her days working in her local Boots store, she found a passion for commercial development in pharmacy services. Charlotte has been responsible for services trials and roll-outs, with the chicken pox vaccine being one of her most successful to date.
So, what does it take to go from delivering a service to developing one? Well in Charlotte’s view a lot of hard work and determination. She needs to be able to communicate with Support Office teams, store teams, pharmacy managers and many others to make the ideas come to life into the services available in-store.
Charlotte has built a fantastic network at Boots both within her team and within the wider business, and this helps her grow and develop. She also understands the importance of building relationships so she knows who to call on when she needs support or guidance. The range of work place study she has undertaken has helped hone her skills and her ambition it to succeed as a great leader at Boots.
In Charlotte’s words, the world of commercial development is fulfilling and busy, and the one piece of advice she would like to give you if you choose a career in this area is, ‘to always expect the unexpected’!
